So how did, or why did I decide to create a search and rescue R/C truck?

Well it initially started with my work on a custome hard body made from grafting a King Blackfoot bed to a Super Blackfoot cab, then taking the fenders from the Super Blackfoots bed and grafting those on to the King Blackfoots bed till I had a Dually style truck! Once I had the body made I needed a chassis for it, so I started my hunt for a used Tamiya XC chassised vehicle. After several attempts to purchase one on ebay and on web boards I finally won and auction on ebay and landed a hardly used Tamiya Pajero for under $150, radio and all! Great deal in my opinion.

Once I had the truck I needed to extend the wheelbase just enough to accomodate the new body it was to have! I built some custom links and reworked the 4-link setup the truck originally had. I also opted to install 3.25" Duratrax Aluminum shocks on all four corners. This provided acceptable articulation while giving a nice ride hieght. However with the addition of 4" shocks in the rear I can increase articulation nicely!

Ok, so why a search and rescue, well I'm not really sure. I wanted some theme for this truck so it just kinda came to me one day to make it into a scale Search & Rescue vehicle. However, I knew that if I wanted some realism I need to figure out how to equip the truck so it looked the part. So while searching on Toy's R Us's website I found a Brauder Unimog S & R truck which had several accessories that would work for my truck. So I plopped down the cash and purchased the truck. I then robbed the lightbar, ladders, generator, boat and oars from the Unimog and placed them in the bed of my truck! Perfect, the look was just what I was after! I also had to decide on a paint scheme, I didn't want the fire truck look, so I decided to go with Chrome Yellow and black stripes! I think it set it off nicely! Anyways, enought typing how about some pics?

Here is an early pic.
